// About Psycho //
The film 'Psycho' is based on the novel of the same name by Robert Bloch.
The rights to the novel were purchased by Alfred Hitchcock for the price of
$9000, and it was then adapted into a screenplay by Joseph Stefano.
It tells the tale of a desperate woman, Marion Crane, who finds herself in an even more desperate situation. After stealing a large sum of cash from her employer, she skips town and finds herself at an empty roadside motel operated by a young man named Norman Bates. Seemingly mild-mannered and polite, Norman hides a very dark secret -- a mother with a wicked temper and a murderous streak. As the mystery unfolds, complete with Hitchcock's stunning visuals and Bernard Hermann's amazing musical score, the audience is glued to their screens right up to the shocking conclusion.
The film stunned audiences in it's initial release, and can be credited for influence nearly every film of it's type that followed after it. Not only that, but the infamous shower scene, the music and the characters of Norman and his mother have become pop-culture phenomenons -- popping up all over the place in the 44 years since since the film's release.
When AFI released it's list of the 100 Greatest Movies, 'Psycho' landed on the list at #18. It was also nominated for 4 Academy Awards, but unfortunately did not win any of them. Janet Leigh, however, did win a Golden Globe award for her portrayal of Marion Crane.

// About This Site //
The wonderful Amanda handed this fanlisting over to me in
February of 2004, and I could not possibly be more grateful. Although I
always say that I have a hard time picking just ONE favorite movie, I have to
say that Psycho is -- undoubtedly -- my favorite movie of all time. It is
definitely #1 on my list. :) I've been a fan since I was a child, and yes,
I was one of those weird kids who watched horror movies and the like. And,
my love for it has only grown over the years. It, and the other films of
Hitchcock, have no doubt been a huge influence in my own desire to be involved
in the film industry.
I am very very very honored and happy to run a fanlisting for a subject that is so near and dear to my heart, and I hope to keep adding extras to the site to give it the treatment it deserves! Thanks for stopping by. :)
